Bouisset Briqueyard and Terres d’Albine it is a family story with the same heritage: The Maison Bouisset.
Located in Albine, in a small village in South of Tarn district (between Toulouse and Montpellier), the factory has grown around our clay quarry. Our family have been running it since 1878 and extracting from it necessary clay to manufacture our products.
At the early stage of the company, we were working mainly in a local dimension, even regional. We were producing roman tiles, pressed bricks, partition bricks.
Somes 80 years later, in the sixties, the father from Alain Bouisset has developped floor tiles, outdoor paving, and scale flat tiles.
In the eighties, Alain designed refractory products and decoration roofing accessories as : rake tiles, roof friezes, roof finials…
Conical tiles (special tiles for round tower) and balusters appeared in the 1980s-1990s, as well as the identical reproduction, with hand-made products.
At the same period we started to work for the Historical Monument. The factory entered then in another dimension and grew at national level.
In the early 1990s, the first models of languedocian vases were manufactured. The factory acquired the know-how of rope wheel modeling. We produce first vases and jars of large dimensions, as well as our first patina surface.
We are involved since 2009, with other brickyards around Toulouse and in cooperation with INSA (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées = National Institute of Applied Sciences), in research on standardisation of earthen constructions : BTC (Brique de Terre Crue = Mud-bricks), coating and other products.
Always on the lookout for new experiences, we welcome occasionally artists for the production of their pieces : Dominique Ghesquières, Eva Roucka. In general produced and fired on site, their works, often monumental, are exhibited afterwards.
Innovating being a key factor in the development of products from Bouisset, we manufacture for some time projects from designers, combining their ideas to our know-how.
Since 2014, Bouisset Brickyard obtain the label EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant = Living Heritage Company), decerned by the French Industrial Ministere, this label recognizes the excellence of French Know-how
